Reflections and resolutions on New Year’s Eve 2016

I hesitated somewhat before writing this post.  I have a love/hate relationship with New Year’s Resolutions, simply because I tend to be bad at them!  For instance, when I take into account, say in July, if in fact I’ve managed to lose those last few pesky pounds via my January commitment to regular exercise, I can usually assign a big fat “F” to that goal. However, I’m also incredibly intrigued by idea of a fresh start and the idea that anything is possible.  My friend Rena LOVES New Year’s Resolutions and manages to make a list, and also manages to check most of them off at years end. So in that spirit–one of optimism, hopefulness, and possibility–I jotted down a few goals that I’d like to accomplish in 2016. But first, some year highlights.

Queen Patina Highlights from 2015

I started this blog! After hemming and haaing for a loooooong time, I finally decided to pull the trigger so to speak on a making Queen Patina a thing. Well, for me at least.

I worked on a lot of great furniture pieces, finished my first upholstery project and made some great furniture friends via the magical interweb and social media.

Our family had the chance to spend three weeks traveling the Southwest–a trip we won’t forget, one filled with near misses, some tears, but mostly fun and wild adventures.

And now to some resolutions & goals, personal and otherwise…

Cultivate a spiritual life. Everything, everything begins here.

Drink more H20!

Set-up that spray booth I’ve been babbling about forever, and start spraying some of the amazing MCM pieces in my inventory.

Write a gardening ebook/workbook. I love to garden, and have essentially taught myself how to garden, though I’m the first to admit that I have much to learn. Everything I’ve read has suggested that setting a deadline is paramount to getting it done, and knowing myself, I agree with the thought.  Here’s the deadline: May 1, 2016.

What about you?

Enough about me.  What are your goals/resolutions for the New Year?  Are you inspired by the New Year ahead and the possibility it brings, or do you avoid making resolutions?  I’d love to hear.

All the best to you, dear readers, as we ring in the New Year!
